Meet my dog, Mayzie.
She is a two-year-old Aussiedoodle. And she is a panty snatcher.
Last weekend, she ate six pair of my teenage daughter’s panties – just the crotch. She broke into my daughter’s room (yes, she opens doors) and rummaged through her luggage from a recent camping trip. She only pulled out and ate the panties – like a covert mission panty snatcher.
We can’t hide them from her. Anything on the floor or in a basket or suitcase – even behind a closed door, is within her reach.
She doesn’t just limit herself to panties though – she’ll eat any clothing that was exposed to a bare bottom. She ate the crotch of my daughter’s pajamas this weekend – and my Lululemon sweatpants. No, I don’t wear panties with my sweatpants.
I Googled “Why do dogs eat underwear.” Apparently, dogs are drawn to the odors of their human companions, and chewing brings out the smells the dog is interested in. Really? That’s the smell my dog is interested in?!?
She used to eat socks.
When she was a puppy she ate one of my ankle length socks I had worn to work out. It got lodged in her intestines and we had to have it surgically removed. The surgery cost over $7000. I guess I should be happy she only eats crotches now…
